2. Welke gegevens, waarvoor en hoe lang
Contactformulier en e-mail
Je naam, e-mailadres, bericht en taalkeuze. We gebruiken ze alleen om je bericht te lezen en te beantwoorden. Het bericht wordt in onze database opgeslagen en naar de redactiemailbox gestuurd. Grondslag: ons gerechtvaardigd belang om berichten te kunnen beantwoorden (art. 6 lid 1 sub f AVG). Bewaartermijn: [owner to decide: how long messages are kept, e.g. 12 months][door de eigenaar te bepalen: hoe lang berichten bewaard blijven, bijv. 12 maanden].
Reacties, polls en ‘roep het’
Stem je, reageer je of roep je een woord, dan maakt je browser een willekeurige, anonieme code aan (niet gekoppeld aan je naam of apparaat). Die code en je keuze worden opgeslagen, zodat je één keer per verhaal kunt stemmen en je keuze kunt wijzigen. Tegen misbruik slaan we tijdelijk een versleutelde hash van je IP-adres op; die wissen we automatisch na 48 uur. Geroepen woorden zijn openbaar zichtbaar. Grondslag: gerechtvaardigd belang (het laten werken van deze functies en het voorkomen van misbruik).
De checks
Je antwoorden worden alleen in je eigen browser verwerkt en niet naar ons verstuurd. Deel je een resultaat, dan bevat de link alleen de uitkomstcode (en bij de Scrollcheck het aantal uren), nooit je antwoorden. De deelkaart wordt op je eigen apparaat gemaakt.
Serverlogboeken
Zoals elke website registreert onze hostingpartij technische gegevens van bezoeken (zoals IP-adres, tijdstip, opgevraagde pagina en browser) voor beveiliging en storingsonderzoek. Grondslag: gerechtvaardigd belang. Bewaartermijn: volgens het beleid van de hostingpartij [eigenaar: termijn bij Hostinger nagaan].
Weer en wisselkoers
Het weer (Open-Meteo) en de wisselkoers (Frankfurter/ECB) haalt onze server op. Je browser maakt daarvoor geen contact met die diensten; er gaan geen gegevens van jou naartoe.
Statistieken (Google Analytics 4)
Alleen als je toestemming geeft (art. 6 lid 1 sub a AVG en art. 11.7a Telecommunicatiewet), gebruiken we Google Analytics 4 om te zien hoeveel mensen welke pagina’s bekijken. Daarvoor worden cookies geplaatst en gebruiksgegevens (zoals pagina’s, apparaattype, globale locatie) naar Google gestuurd. Google Ireland Limited verwerkt deze gegevens voor ons. Gegevens kunnen in de Verenigde Staten terechtkomen; Google LLC is gecertificeerd onder het EU-VS Data Privacy Framework. Google-signalen en advertentiepersonalisatie staan uit. Je kunt je toestemming altijd intrekken via ; we verwijderen dan de Analytics-cookies uit je browser.
3. Cookies en opslag in je browser
Deze gegevens staan alleen in je eigen browser (localStorage/sessionStorage) en zijn nodig voor wat je zelf kiest. Daar is geen toestemming voor nodig.

4. Wie de gegevens nog meer ziet
Onze website, database en e-mail draaien bij Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd., EU), die als verwerker optreedt. Met jouw toestemming ook Google (zie hierboven). We verkopen niets en delen niets met adverteerders.
5. Beveiliging
De site werkt alleen via HTTPS. Wachtwoorden en sleutels staan buiten de website, IP-adressen worden alleen als versleutelde hash en kortstondig bewaard, en we verzamelen niet meer dan nodig.
6. Je rechten
Je mag vragen welke gegevens we van je hebben en ze laten corrigeren, verwijderen of beperken, bezwaar maken tegen verwerking, je gegevens meenemen, en gegeven toestemming intrekken. Mail naar redactie@dwarsblik.nl; we antwoorden binnen een maand. Omdat stemmen en reacties anoniem zijn, kunnen we die meestal niet aan jou koppelen. Ben je het niet met ons eens, dan kun je een klacht indienen bij de Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
7. Jonger dan 16?
Vraag een ouder of verzorger voordat je ergens toestemming voor geeft, ook voor cookies. De checks en de hulppagina kun je gewoon gebruiken: daarbij verzamelen we niets over jou.
8. Wijzigingen
Verandert er iets aan hoe we met gegevens omgaan, dan passen we deze pagina aan en zetten we de datum bovenaan bij. Bij nieuwe cookies vragen we opnieuw toestemming.

2. What data, why, and for how long
Contact form and email
Your name, email address, message and language. We use them only to read and answer your message. The message is stored in our database and sent to the editors’ mailbox. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in being able to reply (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Reactions, polls and “shout it”
When you vote, react or shout a word, your browser creates a random, anonymous code (not linked to your name or device). That code and your choice are stored so you can vote once per story and change your mind. Against abuse we temporarily store an encrypted hash of your IP address, which is erased automatically after 48 hours. Shouted words are publicly visible. Legal basis: legitimate interest (running these features and preventing abuse).
The checks
Your answers are processed only in your own browser and are not sent to us. If you share a result, the link contains only the result code (and, for the Scroll check, the number of hours), never your answers. The share card is created on your own device.
Server logs
Like any website, our hosting provider records technical data about visits (such as IP address, time, requested page and browser) for security and troubleshooting. Legal basis: legitimate interest. Retention: according to the hosting provider’s policy [owner: check the period at Hostinger].
Weather and exchange rate
Our server fetches the weather (Open-Meteo) and the exchange rate (Frankfurter/ECB). Your browser does not contact these services and none of your data goes to them.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
Only if you consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and the Dutch Telecommunications Act, Art. 11.7a) do we use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people view which pages. This places cookies and sends usage data (such as pages, device type, approximate location) to Google. Google Ireland Limited processes this data on our behalf. Data may end up in the United States; Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off. Retention in Analytics: [owner: set in Google Analytics, 2 or 14 months][eigenaar: instellen in Google Analytics, 2 of 14 maanden]. You can withdraw consent at any time via ; we then remove the Analytics cookies from your browser.

4. Who else sees the data
Our website, database and email run at Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd., EU), acting as our processor. With your consent, Google as well (see above). We sell nothing and share nothing with advertisers.
5. Security
The site only works over HTTPS. Passwords and keys are kept outside the website, IP addresses are stored only as an encrypted hash and only briefly, and we collect no more than we need.
6. Your rights
You can ask which data we hold about you and have it corrected, deleted or restricted, object to processing, take your data with you, and withdraw consent. Email redactie@dwarsblik.nl; we reply within one month. Because votes and reactions are anonymous, we usually cannot link them to you. If you disagree with us, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
7. Under 16?
Ask a parent or carer before you give consent to anything, including cookies. You can use the checks and the help page freely: we collect nothing about you there.
8. Changes
If the way we handle data changes, we update this page and the date at the top. New cookies mean we ask for consent again.
