Humanity Requests a User ManualDe mensheid vraagt om een handleiding
The UN chief calls for international cooperation on AI safetyDe VN-chef roept op tot internationale samenwerking op AI-veiligheid
António Guterres asked the world's competing powers to cooperate on artificial intelligence before the technology outran their understanding of its risks. It was a reasonable request, which explained the amount of diplomacy required. The UN chief warned that isolated pauses would not solve a global problem.
Nations could not sensibly build increasingly capable machines while treating safety as somebody else's competitive disadvantage. In the imaginary instruction booklet for humanity, this would be near the front.
Unfortunately, the booklet appears to have been discarded with the packaging, shortly before everybody began arguing about whose machine was winning.
